GCF Country Programme Guatemala
Climate finance, governance and capacity building
With support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and GIZ, a project is being developed to strengthen the capacities of Guatemala’s National Designated Authority (NDA) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) to effectively manage climate finance, particularly GCF resources.
The initiative includes an institutional capacity and gap analysis, the development of training materials, and an assessment of existing governance structures to identify areas for improvement. As a result, a long-term country program proposal will be developed, built through participatory processes, multi-sectoral consultations and updating of the national climate portfolio.
This project contributes to improving institutional preparedness, articulation and alignment to access and manage climate finance in a strategic and sustainable manner.
