Debt-for-Nature Swap (Nicaragua)

Technical assistance was provided to the Government of Nicaragua for the development of a Green, Social and Sustainability Bonds (GSS) Roadmap, linked to a specific portfolio of projects aligned with the country’s sustainability objectives. This initiative seeks to position Nicaragua in sustainable financial markets, facilitating access to new sources of climate finance.

Likewise, support was provided for the design and implementation of the Roadmap for Debt Swap for Climate Change, in coordination with the Climate Change Secretariat of the Presidency, MARENA and other key stakeholders. This strategic tool is based on a portfolio of eligible projects and seeks to channel resources towards mitigation and adaptation initiatives, strengthening national climate action through innovative financing mechanisms.
